Tour
description
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Trieste
at 9.00 a.m. to start a wonderful day out exploring
one of the most picturesque towns along the Istrian
coast. After passing the Italian and Slovenian borders,
you'll reach Croatia and its beautiful coastline,
full of tiny islets, peninsulas and lagoons. A leisurely
drive will take you to Rovinj, a charming citadel
with a tempestuous history and a beautiful present.
Built on a small peninsula for coastal defence, today
it is a lovely fishing port and a lively tourist resort.
The Old Town, with its characteristic cobbled alleys
and squares lined with shops selling Istrian specialties
(including fine wines, olive oils and truffles), its
numerous Romanesque-Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque,
Neoclassical windows, balconies, portals and stairs,
its picturesque vegetable and fruit market, and its
tightly squeezed houses that hold each other up on
the slope underneath the church of St Euphemia, is
the most enchanting part of Rovinj. The Town Square
has a distictly Venetian feel while the Baroque cathedral
located on a hilltop offers the most enchanting view
on the lovely port full of boats and the spectacular
coastline dotted with numerous islets and beautiful
sailing yachts. You can discover the splendours of
this lovely town on foot or you make use of the bikes
at your disposal to experience your own Rovinj, maybe
following the bike path and exploring other secret
parts of this Croatian jewel. Don't forget your swimming
suit
there's a beach stop and a relaxing swim in
the clear and warm waters of the Adriatic included!
