A vineyard called Friuli

Enjoy a private and relaxed full-day journey into the most scenic wine lands of Friuli. Indulge in wine tasting while you become familiar with the history of the Collio and Colli Orientali del Friuli vineyards.

Highlights:
- Scenic back roads through the wine lands
- Visit leading estates and boutique    wineries in the Colli Orientali and Collio zones
- Lunch in the wine land
- Excellent wines and wine tasting

Considered one of the three premier wine regions of Italy, Friuli is widely regarded as the home of Italy’s best white and dessert wines: Tocai Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and the rare Picolit are local celebrities while Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot grigio are fine international varieties produced in this area along with some reds of excellent quality and taste such as Cabernet, Schiopettino, Refosco, Merlot and the rare Pignolo.

The tour will start with a visit to a boutique winery in the Colli Orientali del Friuli: you will walk through the vineyards accompanied by the owner who will then show you the wine cellar, explain the particular wine making process of his wines followed by wine tasting. We’ll then proceed towards Cividale del Friuli, a charming historical town which has recently been included in the Unesco Heritage List. Founded by the Romans in the 1st century B.C., Cividale is not only famous for its history, art and culture, but also for its delicious food, including Gubana, an exquisite local dessert often served with grappa.

In the afternoon we'll head to the Collio wine area, making a brief diversion to the Slovenian Brda wine district (Slovenian Collio) driving through a hilly countryside dotted with little villages and vineyards as far as the eye can see. We will end our day with a visit to another winery with enchanting views over a breathtaking landscape.
